Bedstuy Proper

This series documents the community in Bedford Stuyvesant, a part of Brooklyn. Shortly after moving to this neighborhood, I would often walk around and take photos of neighbors and the people I met. On my walks I documented a bit of their story and the history of the community.

In photographing the residents of Bedford Stuyvesant I found my voice in photography. Documenting culture and the uniqueness that makes the community thrive not only preserves its history, but it allows me to empower the people I collaborate with.
