Prejudential: Black America and the Presidents by Margaret Kimberley
2020-02-13 (Brooklyn, NY) Book signing of Prejudential by Margaret Kimberley at Greenlight Bookstore. This book is an authoritative exploration of America's relationship with race and black Americans, through the lens of the presidents who are elected to represent and govern the country. Over the course of 45 chapters--one for each presidential administration--Kimberley examines the condition of black America through the attitudes and actions of the highest elected official in the country. Each chapter focuses attention on one president, addressing his background, election, legislation, and legacy pertaining to the constituents he was often likely to overlook.

Louis Armstrong's Birthday
On July 4th I had the opportunity of celebrating Louis Armstrong's (traditional) birthday at the Louis Armstrong House Museum, his long time residence in Corona, Queens.
After a bit of research I found the legendary trumpeter celebrated his birthday on July 4th. However, about 15 years after Mr. Armstrong passed away Tad Jones a New Orleans Historian discovered a baptismal certificate indicating Armstrong was born August 4, 1901. Many feel the evidence is flimsy as baptismal records weren't accurate in the early 1900's, but despite controversy history books now state Aug 4th as his "real" birthday.
I am honored to have celebrated just as Pops did in his Corona Queens neighborhood on July 4th. Amongst friends, neighbors and those who have love and admiration for Louis Armstrong's Legacy.
